New shop limits, explained

Probation: training wheels that do not stop the score

Every new TikTok shop starts on probation. It is not a punishment — TikTok's own FAQ says so — but it is also not protection: your Account Health Rating is live from the first order. Both halves of that sentence matter.

The tiers (official US numbers)

Beginner: up to 50 orders a day, up to 100 products. Standard: up to 100 orders a day, up to 200 products. Premium: up to 200 orders a day, up to 1,000 products. Pro means graduated — no probation order limit, with up to 1,000 product uploads a day. (UK tiers differ — 30/50/100 orders. If a guide quotes those numbers for a US shop, it is teaching the wrong country.)

The order-limit cut that is NOT a violation

TikTok may cut your daily Order Volume Limit during routine account, performance, compliance or security reviews — all the way down to 5 — and states plainly that this does not mean your shop has a violation. Beginners read a cut to 5 orders as a punishment and panic-appeal a thing that has no appeal. Check Violation Records: if there is no record, there is nothing to appeal.

Graduation

There is no fixed timeline; shops graduate when they meet performance and compliance standards consistently. The graduation targets republished from TikTok's guidance — labeled as such, because the US text page shows its task table as an image — are 60 calendar days of selling, 300 mature orders, seller-fault cancellation at or under 5%, late dispatch at or under 5%, and non-buyer-fault returns at or under 2.5%. Verify your own task list inside Seller Center.

The small-denominator trap

Probation's real danger is arithmetic. Rates are rates from order #1: one late dispatch in your first 10 orders is a 10% late rate — the level where TikTok says enforcement may apply. One seller-fault cancellation in 12 orders is 8.3% against a 2.5% limit. Big shops absorb mistakes into volume; probation shops have no volume yet. Ship slower and cleaner beats ship everything today.

TikTok's own FAQ: probation is not a violation or a punishment — it is a temporary growth phase. An order limit cut (even to 5) during a review does not mean you have a violation.

Questions sellers ask

Does probation pause AHR deductions?

No. Probation limits volume; it does not shield the score. Deductions apply from the first orders.

New shops and money: is anything held back?

Yes — TikTok's settlement rules place new/probation sellers in an introductory settlement period with reserve levels: a portion of earnings on delivered orders can be retained in reserves for 30 days. Knowing reserves exist before your first payout saves a frightening support ticket later.
